"The Gulf of Santa Clara you have never seen before"

It is Adriana Hernandez who takes us on this tour of the Gulf of Santa Clara, Sonora, which you had not seen before.

We are located in the Gulf of Santa Clara, which belongs to the municipality of San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora, Mexico. I am a biologist and I have more than 10 years dedicated to the study of shorebirds and silversides; it is from the creation of the Upper Gulf Nature Tourism Network RENATUR that I started my activities as a tourism service provider, since I had focused only on training in environmental education and biology.

I received the motivation from my friends to take advantage of my knowledge and share it with tourists and give them the experience of knowing the things that surround us, other living beings, the way in which we coexist with them and the invitation is to open your eyes and get to know the Gulf of Santa Clara that you had not seen before.

"little is said about the impressive biodiversity and horizons that can be found around here."

The Gulf of Santa Clara is a destination widely known in the region for its beaches as a recreational site but little is said about the impressive biodiversity and horizons that can be found here.

For the observation and interpretation of the bird community we have a telescope and binoculars available for rent; for nature photography the visitor must bring their own equipment.

Another of our main interests is the problem of solid waste pollution and the alternatives to reduce it. We offer lectures and training workshops on this or other topics of environmental education, climate crisis, plastic pollution for all types of audiences.

"We offer talks and training workshops on this or various topics of environmental education, climate crisis, plastic pollution for all types of audiences."

The main places where we can make the tours is on the beach in front of the town, the muddy beach areas at a distance of 7 km to the north or the sandier areas about 7 kilometers to the south, the area of Borrascoso.

In Golfo de Santa Clara there are about 200 species of resident and migratory birds, we have 14 species listed in the NOM 059, in risk category, such as red shorebird, snowy plover, reddish heron, peregrine falcon, brown pelican; among the reptiles we can observe 11 species in the surroundings of the town, within these 4 species are protected; The most common are the zebra-tailed lizard, the desert iguana, the false chameleon of the great desert and the rattlesnake; among the mammals we have the round-tailed squirrel, the California hare, the white-tailed rabbit and the coyote. The fish are a great variety that we can find the silverside in its reproductive season because it is the one that we can observe with greater certainty.

Within the flora there is a great variety with a record of more than 250 species, I want to highlight two endemic species that are very interesting, the delta salt grass and the Sonoran sand flower.

We invite you to enjoy these wonders that nature gives us, the only thing we need is the desire to know the Gulf that you have not seen. We are waiting for you.
